Unions representing staff at all 33 London boroughs are to meet
this week to discuss whether to take further industrial action over
London weighting payments.
Public sector union Unison, the Transport and General Workers Union
and the GMB are to meet to discuss a campaign for higher London
weighting payments.
Unison has already been on strike for four days over the issue.
More industrial action could see the 55,000 combined membership of
the three unions being called out on strike. A spokesperson for
Unison said there would be “significant disruption” to social
services if further industrial action went ahead.
An Association of London Government spokesperson said: “It is
extremely disappointing that the London local government trade
unions propose to strike again in September.”
