Reach minorities, delegates told

Councils for voluntary service must make sure they reach minority
groups because they are their “bread and butter,” delegates were
told.

Sharon Walker, director of Greenwich Voluntary Action Council in
south east London, said that CVS could not use lack of resources as
an excuse for not trying to engage marginalised groups. She also
criticised the lack of black directors adding that the composition
of management committees rarely reflected the communities they
served.

Jon Fox, director of the Consortium of Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual
Voluntary and Community Organisations, also urged delegates not to
ignore the needs of lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
