The failure to establish a protection of vulnerable adults list was
little short of a “scandal”, Heather Wing, adults director of the
National Care Standards Commission, told delegates evaluating the
implementation of guidance to protect vulnerable adults from
abuse.
Echoing Wing’s calls for greater commitment to adult protection,
Hilary Brown, consultant in social care and adult protection at
Canterbury Christ Church University College, in Kent, proposed the
development of a national forum.
“While there is evidence of action at both practice and policy
levels there needs to be a more nationally strategic lead,” she
said.
