Study reveals young carers’ problems

A study for Edinburgh Young Carers Project reveals that 60 per cent
of young carers surveyed reported difficulty in sleeping. Thirty
per cent had difficulties eating, more than one-third said they had
self-harmed and 36 per cent said they had contemplated
suicide.

While most young carers were able to talk to people about their
concerns, all but one said they would benefit from being able to
talk to a trained counsellor.
