Part 1 of these distance or open learning workbooks, which usefully
digest government publications, policies and other child care
materials, is “Policy, Protocol and Process”, and looks at the
framework, social work values and inclusive assessment. Part 2,
“The Three Domains”, looks at the child’s developmental needs,
parenting capacity, wider family and environmental factors, and
professional judgement. These interactive materials can be used as
a stand-alone learning pack or integrated in training, teaching,
tutoring or mentoring sessions for social workers in child care
settings, DipSW students in child care placements, and candidates
on post qualifying child care courses.
