Bid to help teenage parents

A new child care support scheme is being piloted in schools and
sixth form colleges across England to help teenage parents stay in
education.
The pilot scheme, which replaces previous arrangements for
delivering child care support funds, runs across the academic years
2002-2004.
It will give targeted financial assistance to students for whom
child care costs are a barrier to continuing their education.

It is part of the commitment of the Learning and Skills Council to
increase the proportion of young people participating in structured
learning and raise their level of achievement.
