£1m go-ahead for tracking projects

The Children and Young People’s Unit has allocated four areas
£1m each to develop identification, referral and tracking
projects for children at risk of social exclusion.

The projects – in Gateshead and Newcastle; Leicestershire,
Leicester City and Rutland; Telford and Wrekin with Shropshire; and
West and East Sussex – will develop systems to help councils
deliver IRT.

They will build on existing trials with the aim of rolling out IRT
systems throughout the country within a year.

The four new projects will focus on developing effective IRT in
wider geographical areas.
