Split on impact of Valuing People

Visitors to Community Care‘s website are divided in their
assessment of the impact of the Valuing People white paper on
learning difficulties services.

Forty-five per cent said the initiative had not had an impact in
their area since it was launched in March 2001, with a similar
proportion saying it had.

This week’s question asks: “Should unqualified people from
communities be recruited to work with child protection
professionals?”

The idea has been put forward by charity NCH as a way to ease the
workload on child protection workers and help the community become
more involved in the protection of children.
