More money to set up local trust pilots

The government is expected to announce a further £1 million of
funding for the first wave of children’s trusts, along with the
launch of its prospectus.

The new money from the department for education and skills is in
addition to a similar amount given by the department of health.

Most of the money is set to go to the local pilots, but some will
be kept back to set up a central advice and support body.

The prospectus is expected to generate 50 formal expressions of
interest from local authorities wanting to pilot trusts although
only 15-25 will be successful.
