More information may be released

Children conceived as a result of sperm, egg or embryo donation
might soon be able to find out more information about their donors,
the government announced last week.

Subject to parliament’s approval, those conceived by donor since
1990 could request information from the Human Fertilisation and
Embryology Authority about the donor’s physical appearance,
interests and, in some cases, occupation – but not any information
that would identify the donor.
