Capped budgets threaten schemes

Schemes for vulnerable people in Wales could be abandoned after
being allocated inadequate funding by the Welsh assembly, the
social housing sector warned last week.

Cymorth Cymru, a network for supported housing providers in Wales,
said many Supporting People schemes beginning between April 2003
and March 2004 had been placed in jeopardy due to funding caps for
services being set too low.

Most schemes have been capped at under £300 per person per
week, with many well below this figure.
