Women-only homes ‘need more money’

The London Housing Federation is calling for more funding for
women-only housing.

In a report out this week, the federation says there is a shortage
of housing especially for women.

Head of the London Housing Federation Sue Ellenby said: “The report
illustrates how many women not only prefer but also need to be in
women-only housing.”

She added that many existing schemes addressed government issues in
terms of social inclusion but also those such as teenage pregnancy
and domestic violence.

“Many of London’s housing associations have the skills and
expertise to help these women but not the funds,” Ellenby
said.
