Priests fear church has shielded abusers

Many parish priests in England and Wales believe the Catholic
Church has covered up incidents of child sex abuse, according to a
study.

An ICM poll, which had responses from 486 serving parish priests
and was carried out for the BBC television programme Kenyon
Confronts
, found many priests believe the church has covered
up child sex abuse rather than deal with offending priests.

Two-thirds said they personally knew another priest who had been
implicated in an allegation.

The programme is due to be screened on BBC1 on 15 October.
