Drive in and drop off your toddlers

A revolutionary “drive-thru” nursery is to open in the new year in
Stockport.

The Paint Pots neighbourhood nursery will enable parents of the 120
children who attend it to drive into a carport where they sign in
or pick up their children before returning to the main road.

Planners came up with the idea because the site is on a one-way
street. The project, which has £200,000 of lottery funding,
aims to help unemployed single mothers back into the workplace.

Helen Carroll, managing director of Paint Pots, said she had been
inundated with interest from parents.

“From our experience, we know parents don’t want to hang about in
the morning. They will like being able to drive in and be out of
the bad weather,” she said.
