More support for parents

A new email-based advice and support service for parents is to
be launched next month.

The charity Parentline Plus is to receive extra government
funding to expand its telephone helpline and set up the email
service.

Parentline Plus currently receives £1 million a year in
government funding and answers around 6,000 calls from parents per
month. With the extra £762,690 announced last week it expects
to be able to take more calls as well as setting up the new email
service.

Parents can seek support or information and advice on any family
issue including financial pressures, child development, stepfamily
or contact problems or family conflict.

Parentline Plus’s 24-hour helpline is on 0808 800 2222
