Child care first for housing association

A housing association has become the first to launch its own child
care company to provide affordable nursery facilities in
England.

The Places for People Group has set up Places for Children, which
is planning to invest more than £8m in neighbourhood nurseries
and develop child care provision in some of the most deprived
areas.

Places for Children will also support parents and carers by
offering help and advice on employment, health, training and
financial issues. The first Places for Children nursery opened in
Hackney, east London, last month.
