Registration under way amid confusion

More than 10 per cent of qualified social workers have already
registered with the General Social Care Council, according to
research carried out exclusively for Community Care.

However, six out of 10 of the 1,000 who responded did not realise
they had to be registered before they could accept a new job.

The research found almost 20 per cent of the 1,800 respondents
thought registration would fail to raise standards across the
profession.
