Complex rules lead to social exclusion

The delivery of older people’s services can be confusing and lead
to social exclusion, MPs have warned.

The public accounts committee’s report on improving public service
for older people finds that complex arrangements discourage people
from using services.

“The needs and views of older people should be regularly gauged and
taken into account in developing services,” the report says, adding
that existing research could be better shared across government,
academics and the voluntary sector.
