Social services departments and the NHS are to work in consortiums
to promote health and well-being across Wales, following a meeting
last week with ministers and local authority health board
members.
The meeting laid the basis for improved working, according to Welsh
Local Government Association head of health and well-being Beverlea
Frowen.
She said the discussion with health and social services minister
Jane Hutt and local government minister Sue Essex was particularly
significant “because of the closeness of local government to the
NHS and ministers in Wales”.
Consortiums will be key to increasing the capacity of services, she
added.
The consortiums could work on areas where combined resources could
be better used such as commissioning, leadership and policy
development, she added.
