Consultation opens on single inspection process for children’s services

New proposals for an integrated inspection regime for all local
public services for children have been published by Ofsted.

The proposals – to bring together inspection, assessment
and review arrangements for social care, education, health, police
and criminal justice for everyone from age 0 to 19 – are the
subject of a formal consultation.

The new arrangements have been devised by the ten inspecorates
and commissions which currently inspect services for children and
young people.

From next September, all services for children in a local
authority will receive a joint area review by multi-disciplinary
teams of inspectors using the same criteria.
