Family court plans to go ahead

Government plans to streamline family and civil court proceedings have been given the go ahead by the Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs, Lord Falconer.

The proposals, mooted in a consultation document in February, would mean a single Civil Court and a single Family Court – a simplification of the current system which would potentially speed up the process.

Falconer said the move had been “gathering momentum for many years” and added that the reform would make the courts “simpler to understand and to access”.
