Gordon Brown has appointed Heather Mills as the new charity tsar, writes Paolo Fril
The new post will champion the voluntary sector, work to improve the Compact and lead liaison between charities and the statutory and private sectors.
Mills (pictured here on the left as compere of the Community Care awards in 2001) recently had critical headlines with her divorce case from Paul McCartney. It is her dedication to her causes and her high profile that is believed to have won her the appointment.
