Gordon Brown backs Community Care’s dementia campaign

Prime minister Gordon Brown has given his personal endorsement to Community Care's campaign to make dementia a political priority.

Prime minister Gordon Brown has given his personal endorsement to Community Care’s campaign to make dementia a political priority.

His personal message of support came after all three major parties signed up to our Dementia Declaration, which calls for a full debate on dementia during the election and for the next government to make improved care in this area a financial priority.

The prime minister said: “The Labour Party is happy to sign up to Community Care’s Dementia Declaration. It should be a priority for government to improve the support for those with dementia through a better NHS and a better care system.”

Besides the Tories and Liberal Democrats, the declaration also has the support of the Scottish National Party, Plaid Cymru, the Democratic Unionists and the Greens, as well as leading sector organisations.
