The Role
The Falkland Islands Government is seeking to recruit an Advanced Practitioner/Team Supervisor who will supervise a small team of qualified social workers whilst also carrying a small case load. Your role will span the whole spectrum of tasks and client groups; including safeguarding children and working with vulnerable adults.

The Person
You will be a qualified social worker with five years post qualifying experience. Ideally your experience will encompass both child safeguarding and adult social work roles. You will have a flexible and adaptable approach and a commitment to quality. You will be an adaptable practitioner, able to respond to a broad range of professional challenges. You should also be registered with a relevant Care Council. Holding a Post Qualifying Practice Educator’s Award would be advantageous. 

The Role
You will provide an advanced level of social work expertise to the team across a broad range of social work interventions, methods and theories. You will provide professional supervision to qualified and unqualified team members; you will contribute to service development in close liaison with the Service Manager
You will also function as a member of the social work team, carrying your own case load. You will support the service to deliver training packages to partner agencies and the wider community.

The Package

  • ​Initial 2-4 Years Fixed Term Contract, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.
  • Salary Range £37-45k, starting salaries will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract.
  • 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave).
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights Package for you and your dependents, including mid-term return flight home.
  • Government Housing for rent at a subsidised rate and a starter pack to help you settle in.

The Falkland Islands
The Falkland Islands has a population of approximately 3,500 people in an area roughly equivalent to half of Wales. Most of the population (80%) live in the capital, Stanley, a bustling town surprisingly equipped with a modern hospital, schools, Social Services department, courts, Government headquarters, port, airport, modern supermarkets and a thriving tourist industry. The areas outside Stanley, Camp, are more sparsely populated but offer opportunities to explore the breath taking scenery and countryside.
