Up to £6,500 relocation payment (subject to terms & conditions)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated manager to join a team of experienced, skilled and supportive managers driving forward practice improvement in Sandwell Children’s Trust. 

The role of IRO Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing, scrutinising and challenging the performance of the Trust by leading and managing an effective and high-quality conferencing and review service. 

You will be responsible for leading and continuing to develop the independent reviewing of: children in care, children subject to child protection plans and fostering annual reviews.
You must be social work qualified and an experienced social work practitioner or manager, fully committed to multi-agency, partnership work in safeguarding children.  You must have knowledge of the Care Planning Regulations, the role of the IRO and the issues that face vulnerable children. 

Your duties in this role will include the following:

  • Ensuring the views of children and their families are represented at all levels within the service;
  • Analysing and identifying performance trends;
  • Monitoring the performance of the Trust and making recommendations for learning and improvement; 
  • Holding to account those who fail to carry out agreed actions;
  • Ensuring an effective conference and review service which contributes to Trust wide continuous improvement;
  • You will be giving advice to a range of children’s social work staff, managers and other agency partners. You will work closely with the other two IRO managers as part of the Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Unit. 
  • You must have excellent knowledge and experience of best practice in relation to the crucial role that all agencies have in safeguarding. Above all you should be able to demonstrate your ability to put safeguarding children at the heart of all that you do.
