Summary

LIVE∙WORK∙LEAD

About the role

The implementation of our Early Support Hub, Front Door and Out of Hours provision, is a major step for us as a Local Authority. As Assistant Team Manager, you will be critical in supporting senior managers to effectively develop and ensure effective delivery of services/outcomes for children and families.

You will have responsibility for the safety and support of Wiltshire’s children by working jointly with our partner agencies.  This is a great role for an experienced/advanced practitioner who is looking to take the next step into a management role, with a solid background in children’s safeguarding, to take responsibility for managing risk and decision making, without actively holding cases.

Our offer to you

    • Working patterns to fit for your life and commitments. We also offer flexible working options from across Wiltshire including working from home.
    • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 30 after 5 years’ service, as well as the option to purchase an additional ten days.
    • Provide free parking in the locality of most of our hubs and use of the pool car scheme.
    • The opportunity to work for a forward-thinking council with a strong focus on staff engagement.
    • Dedicated time for training and development and monthly reflective supervision
    • Provide you with a laptop and mobile phone, so you can work flexibly from any location across the county enabling you to be more effective and flexible in your practice.
    • We offer an attractive rewards package with an excellent range of discounted products and services with national and local retailers via our Wiltshire Rewards scheme
    • Excellent training and development opportunities – with a variety of progression opportunities
    • Employee wellbeing services and family friendly policies to support work life balance
    • Discounted leisure membership

About you

It is essential that you are registered with Social Work England and hold a recognised social worker qualification.  An excellent communicator, you will know when to escalate concerns concisely, be used to managing competing demands and comfortable liaising concisely with senior leaders for decisions.

You will possess up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of, children and young people, including safeguarding and the ability to work autonomously are essential.

With a rolling 6 week rota, with a fixed pattern (including weekends and bank holidays), the rota allows for a realistic work/life balance with a mix of core and unsocial hours on a regular basis.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, as an employee you will be expected to share this commitment.
