Support Workers and Care Assistants

Not all SUPERHEROS wear capes, as an all-important key worker you can be a real hero to our students and they want you to know what they need………

All about us

Young Epilepsy is the children and young people’s epilepsy charity. What sets us apart is our focus on giving a voice and a platform to people who have the condition, so that we are able to learn from them and support changes in societal understanding, attitudes and responsiveness - providing higher quality health, education and family support services as a result. Increasingly, we are developing our digital platforms and on-line offers to children and families.

We run a special education school and college in Lingfield, Surrey and also provide health and residential care services.

We exist to create a society where children and young people with epilepsy are enabled to thrive and fulfil their potential. A society in which their voices are respected, and their ambitions realised.

Your role

We are looking for caring individuals to give students the tools and opportunities they need to fulfil their potential and have the best possible quality of life. You will help us to create a caring, supportive and safe atmosphere for the students where they can enjoy learning and social activities. We have a number of roles available across the different departments at Young Epilepsy, please visit our website here for more information.

What it is like being my support worker

Here at Young Epilepsy being a support worker isn’t just about helping me to get dressed or to eat my food, it’s about encouraging me to learn new things and become independent. I might need you to help me with cooking and trying new foods, baking and sharing cakes with my friends. I may need you to help push me in my wheelchair when we are out and about in the local area enjoying myself. We may need to go shopping to the local shops.

I may need your help in encouraging me to reach my full potential and help me if I find things difficult, I will need you to be patient with me and believe in me and boost my confidence with every day and new tasks.

Young Epilepsy really is a special place to work and the team here will provide you with comprehensive training and support you to achieve your Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3. There are also comprehensive development opportunities, training programmes and clear pathways.

If you are compassionate and a great communicator, we can’t wait to hear from you and we have roles available ready to start now or in September within Residential Care, St Piers School or St Piers College.
