An excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Manager to open a new Residential Family Assessment Centre in Romford. We are seeking Qualified Social Workers with experience in child protection to join our innovative Family Assessment Centre in Havering.

With a basic salary of up to £47,000.00, and a generous bonus scheme, you will have the opportunity to earn up to £50,000 per annum depending on your experience.

You will be responsible for the provision of leadership, direction and management of the residential service, to achieve the highest levels of performance to meet and exceed the service quality standards, resulting in the best outcome for children and families within our care. Significant experience of child safeguarding is paramount to the success of this role.

The Cross-Cultural Family Assessment Centre is the assessment division of K.T.JUD Social Care Services located in Thurrock, Essex. We have been operating since 2017. Since 2017, the Cross-Cultural Parenting Assessment Service have been providing Social Work assessments across the country and have a reputation for excellence in this area. We provide reports to Local Authorities, Courts, Independent Fostering Agencies, and International organisations and have completed almost 400 of these assessments in the past year. We thrive for diversity and cultural inclusion. Due to the successful growth and development of our organization and our proven track record with several Local Authorities, we now seek to expand our services to set up a residential family centre in Havering.

Our intention is to work closely with the Local Authorities so we can make a difference to the lives of Children and Families in the neighbouring London Boroughs. We have a proven track record in providing fair, balanced, and evidenced based community parenting assessments in Public Law Proceedings. Our areas of expertise include assessment of parents with mental health issues, learning disabilities, substance misuse and domestic abuse, ethnic minority communities where culture and religion has an intrinsic limitation to their parenting and understanding of the Western child protection systems.  Alongside the assessment, we would offer support programmes for migrant families, domestic violence, substance misuse, parenting, and management and preparation for independent living.

We are looking for a Registered Manager with management experience and you will be accountable to the Director.  Your role will be focussed on working in accordance with the statutory and legislative OFSTED frameworks for Residential Family Centres. In addition, you will be responsible for staff supervision, appraisals and quality assurance processes, and support the day to day functioning of the unit. Your role will include writing and/or overseeing Court directed reports, assessment/review meetings and approving daily logs.

You must be suitably qualified with an appropriate Degree in Social Work, at least five years of post-qualifying experience and minimum of two years of management experience in a social care/Residential setting. Experience in a residential social care setting/residential family centre will be preferable. A competitive salary will be offered, taking into account experience and professional qualifications.

Job summary

  • To take overall responsibility for the family assessment centre this includes practice, some administrative and financial responsibilities.
  • To effectively lead and manage the staff team, and facilitate and empower staff contributions to team discussions, decision-making, day to day work, and the development of the service.
  • To ensure a high standard of social work practice in the centre and that staff are clear about their responsibilities and duties.
  • To help create and maintain a safe learning environment within the service.
  • To supervise the staff team, and sessional workers, sharing responsibility with the deputy service manager.
  • To undertake probationary reviews and annual appraisals with staff, sharing responsibility with the deputy service manager.
  • To take lead and management responsibility for overseeing specific assessments including reading of court papers, planning, and reviewing the assessment, supporting Keyworkers to compile reports, and supporting Keyworkers in giving evidence at Court.

These are the normal duties which the employer requires at the date of appointment. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and all employees may be required from time to time to perform other duties as may be required by the employer for the efficient running of the organisation.

Additional requirements:

The registered manager should be available to complete a ‘health fitness questionnaire’ to progress the medical and DBS as a requirement for Ofsted.

Job Type: Fixed term one year contract with the view to progress to permanent contract after successful completion of the one year.

Salary: £42,000-£47,400.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 Hours
  • On call services shared with the deputy manager and consultant
  • Should be available occasional weekend depending on the needs of the service.

Experience:

  • Postgraduate: 5 years (Required but not essential)
  • Deputy residential manager experience will be considered
