Are you an experienced highly motivated social worker who is passionate about good social work practice with children, young people and their families? If so, we would love to hear from you.
Following a redesign of how we deliver our Children’s Social Care Services, we have established new Duty and Assessment teams, Child and Family Teams and Children in Care Teams. Our teams are headed by a Team Manager and supported by a dedicated Practice Supervisor and Court Consultant.
Our fast paced Duty and Assessment Service will work on a rota system and receive allocations directly from our Integrated Front Door Service. Working within this service, you will complete Family Assessment and work with the child and family to agree a plan.
Our busy, energetic and aspirational Child and Family service will work with children and families at the point in their journey where there are safeguarding concerns and act to reduce those risks. As a social worker within these teams, you will undertake meaningful, direct work with children and their families ensuring the most positive outcomes.
We also have some vacancies in some of our other service areas: all of the teams are managed by a Team Manager who is supported by a Practice Supervisor.
The Integrated Front Door service is a fast paced environment dealing with all of our new referrals and making decisions about where the need of the child or young person is best met whether that is with support from our Prevention and Early Help Services, or protection with our Social Work Service or whether there is no role at all required. Three dedicated and passionate Practice Supervisors support the function of the service.
Our Children in Care Teams are dedicated to ensuring that the needs of our children who are in care receive a high quality service as a corporate parent and work with families where rehabilitation home is a possibility. The team are also responsible for legal proceedings to discharge Care Orders and apply for Special Guardianship orders.
Our Care Leavers Service proactively support our young people into independence, supporting them to find their feet in the world, continuing education, employment and starting apprenticeships; there is a focus on empowering young people to be confident and develop support networks.
Our Children with Complex Health and Disabilities Team works with children who have long term care needs due to their complex health needs and with children who have profound disabilities impacting on daily life. The team offer consultancy to other teams who may be working with children or young people who have a disability which does not require the dedicated support of the CCHDT team.
You will need;
- a social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
- a full driving licence and access to a car (unless a disability prevents this)
- a thorough working knowledge of relevant legislation and practice that underpins child protection work.
- excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals to provide a multi-agency response to children, young people and their families.
In return we can offer you:
- A leadership team that cares for and values your skills
- Tailored training and development opportunities linked to career progression
- Regular supervision, ongoing support and annual appraisal
- Competitive salary
- Competitive annual leave scheme – up to 32 days plus 9 additional days
- Excellent defined benefit pension scheme – employer contributes 14.2%
- Discounted Bradford City Centre Parking Scheme
