ASYE Social Worker, Children’s Social Care

When Children's Services get involved in the life of a child our priority is to make sure our social workers have the support, time and resources they need to provide an excellent quality of service - the kind of service we ourselves would wish to receive.

We know that the success of ANY team will be dependent upon the people we employ.   Social Workers in Wokingham are valued for the important and challenging work they undertake.  As an ASYE at Wokingham you will find an environment where your practice can flourish and learning, and development is promoted.  Many of our current Social Workers started with us as ASYEs.

As an ASYE you are guaranteed a protected caseload and dedicated practice consultant support to ensure that you feel safe and supported as you begin your career with us in Social Care.  With your practice consultant you will receive monthly reflective supervisions, along with the chance for additional monthly check-ins.

“My ASYE programme was effective in helping me learn and develop as a social worker and be more confident.”

Wokingham Children’s Services scored 94/100 for our ASYE programme on the 2020 LGA Social Work staff survey!

We believe in creating a supportive environment amongst your fellow social workers, to build this culture of peer support we offer:

  • Monthly ASYE group mornings
  • Monthly ASYE group supervisions and case discussions
  • Shadowing/buddy-up scheme across the teams
  • Team-based group supervisions
  • Signs of Safety training events

We are keen to hear from those that are flexible and dynamic who want to achieve the best outcomes for our children and young people.

The Social Worker role – we have roles available for our ASYE social workers in our Duty, Triage & Assessment and Long-Term teams.  As a social worker you will work in partnership with children, young people and those connected to them, in order to co-create plans that meet their identified needs.
