UNISON survey for social work assistants and support workers

UNISON is launching an online survey to find out more about the issues affecting social work assistants and support workers, the concerns members have and the changes they want to see.

UNISON represents staff across social care, including all staff working in teams alongside registered social workers. We are contributing to government initiatives to reform the social work profession. But we believe that too little attention has been paid to the role of staff who work alongside social workers as ‘assistant practitioners’: sometimes known as social work assistants, care managers/co-ordinators, support workers, community care practitioners and many many other job titles. These staff are often taking on increasing responsibilities in the absence of clear role boundaries. Council cuts mean this is a growing issue.

We are launching an online survey to find out more about the issues affecting assistants/support workers, the concerns members have and the changes they want to see. This survey is anonymous and will only take 10-15 minutes. We need a good response to help us in our campaign for a fairer deal for EVERYONE in social work services.

Please let staff working in these job roles know about the survey – a link is provided below.
