Unions are balloting care workers on Southampton Council’s proposals to end their long-running dispute over the removal of enhancements for unsocial hours from their contracts.
About 240 Unison and TGWU members went on strike over the issue in February.
The proposals include maintaining the pay of all residential and domiciliary care staff employed in February 2007 until 31 March 2008 and then phasing in the cuts over the following two years.
The council has also offered to reinstate the employees who left their jobs as a result of the dispute.
As a condition of the proposed deal, the unions would remove support for grievances and employment tribunal claims arising from the dispute.
The ballot closes on Monday 16 April.
