A strike by over 550 Glasgow Council social care workers looks set to enter its third week after they overwhelmingly rejected an offer from management today.
Unison members went out on strike on Tuesday, 23 July, in protest at a job evaluation which placed them in a lower grade than they felt their jobs were worth.
Today, a vast majority of Unison members rejected a council offer to upgrade 260 of the council's 600 social care workers - not all of whom are on strike - immediately and allow the others to retrain into the higher grade within three years.
They want all social care workers upgraded as a condition of settling the dispute.
Mike Kirby, convenor for Glasgow Council's Unison branch, said there were no further meetings scheduled with the council but the union was available for talks, even over the weekend.
