Community Care today launches its Dementia Declaration campaign.

We want all political parties to sign our declaration, which demands a full debate on the issue of dementia during the forthcoming general election.

We believe that it is only by debating dementia that a democratic mandate can emerge to take the measures required to offer dignity to some of the most vulnerable members of society, appropriate support for their families and fairness for the care workforce.
But we also need your support to send a real message to policy makers and politicians.

Show your support by adding a comment to this blog post. You can tell us about your experiences, share what you think is important, leave a message of support or simply add your name to the comments section below.

Alternatively, why not sign our petition - it only takes a couple of seconds to fill in.

I am finding this difficult to do and wonder how easy it is for a person with dementia.
Please give people dignity in their old age.

The United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA) wholeheartedly supports Community Care's Dementia Declaration. This campaign highlights the importance of adequate resources for people with dementia, which is a crucial part of the wider debate on the funding effective, dignified, social care services for the future.

Caring for someone who has dementia can take a massive toll on families, who are too often let down by an underfunded social care system which cannot meet their needs.

Carers UK believes this campaign sends out a strong message to politicians that care must be at the top of the political agenda and the subject of high-profile political debate, both now and beyond the election.
