Students protest

Social work students at the Universities of Sussex and Brighton
have forced course administrators to improve facilities for the
hard of hearing.

First year diploma in social work students complained that the
lack of an induction loop had left them unable to function as group
because of the needs of one member.

Programme director Chris Warren said the universities would now
spend £1,600 on a new loop. Equipment had been provided but on
a number of occasions it had not functioned properly, he added.
