Tenants choose new landlord in transfer move

Tenants will be given a greater role in managing their own homes
in Mendip, according to housing minister Nick Raynsford.

Next week, 4,326 dwellings will be transferred to Mendip Housing
Limited following a vote by tenants under the government’s
large scale voluntary transfer scheme.

Raynsford said the establishment of the local housing company
would enable tenants to benefit from an accelerated programme of
repairs and improvements to their homes, and have an extra say in
the management arrangements.

The announcement means more than 510,000 homes have been
approved through large scale voluntary transfers.
