Readers give their verdict on councils’ race policies

Just over half of the visitors to Community Care’s website
believe their organisation is institutionally racist.

A recent Local Government Association survey found that many
councils have failed to respond to the recommendations of the
Macpherson report into the death of black teenager Stephen
Lawrence, despite the enactment next month of the Race Relations
(Amendment) Act 2000.

The online poll reveals that 51 per cent of people believe their
employing organisation is institutionally racist, with 49 per cent
saying they do not.

This week’s questions asks: “Is the recruitment crisis in social
care directly affecting your ability to provide high quality
services?” To express your opinion visit www.community-care.co.uk
