Children’s services in refuges could be under threat if the
government does not make more cash available, a leading women’s
organisation has warned.
The Women’s Aid Federation of England has voiced concern over
the issue, claiming that BBC Children in Need provides more money
for children in refuges than all the social services departments in
England put together. The organisation, which held a national
conference on child protection last week, called on councils and
the government to give urgent consideration to the funding of
children’s services in refuges.
