An overwhelming majority of visitors to Community Care’s website
believe the recruitment crisis in social care has affected their
ability to provide high quality services.
Of those who took part in the online poll 94 per cent said it
had a negative influence on the provision of services, and only 6
per cent said it had no effect.
Health minister John Hutton has announced that the government
will launch a recruitment campaign later this year.
A new Local Government Association survey has shown that less
than half of local authorities believe government inspections have
resulted in an improvement in services.
This week’s question asks: Following the LGA survey, do you
think Social Services Inspectorate and Best Value inspections of
local authorities have improved social services in your area?
