Tenants on the Handforth estate in Macclesfield will have more
say in the management arrangements of their homes, after 632
dwellings are transferred from Manchester Council.
Collingwood Housing Association will become the new landlord,
following a vote from tenants last November under the
government’s large scale voluntary transfer scheme.
Manchester Council will receive around £350,000 for the
stock.
Housing minister Nick Raynsford said tenants will benefit from
over £17 million of investment for repairs and improvements to
their homes, in addition to extra say in management
arrangements.
More than 520,000 homes have now been transferred as a result of
large scale voluntary transfers.
