Tower Hamlets race ruling

An employment tribunal has supported a claim of racial
discrimination by an employee of Tower Hamlets social services
department.

A tribunal in Stratford, east London, agreed that Michael
Ogunlokun, a community care manager for adult services at the
council, was treated unfairly.

He claimed his secondment to the role of policy and planning
officer was ended prematurely and he was not shortlisted for the
middle management post when it was later advertised.

The tribunal is now considering the issue of damages and
Ogunlokun is also claiming his legal costs.

A spokesman for the council said: “We await the full written
reasons from the tribunal before considering any further
action.”
