Salford’s work scheme for disabled people not consistent

Salford Council’s welfare to work scheme for disabled people is
failing to offer a consistent service, according to a report by the
Social Services Inspectorate.

The council is providing some people with a high quality
service, but it needs to utilise and share the considerable
experience it has developed, the report says.

It states that eligibility criteria, assessment frameworks and
care planning documents need to have more of a focus on employment,
and services need to be underpinned by coherent inter-agency
strategies.

However, feedback from service users, who had been helped in
finding work was very positive, with great attention being paid to
preparing them for work and matching them to suitable jobs.
