All information about the needs of individual service users and
expected outcomes must be recorded electronically, according to a
new Department of Health initiative.
The initiative is part of the quality strategy for social care.
One way of achieving this is by changing working practices and
inputting information directly into electronic media, it
suggests.
The initiative proposes that proper funding provision will need
to be made “within revenue and capital budgets” in order to take
forward the management agenda. The document identifies senior
managers as key to driving change in attitudes towards information
and the role of technology.
