A Birmingham care worker has lost an appeal against a 10-year
prison sentence for sexually assaulting two teenagers in his
care.
Ian Brook raped two 14-year-old girls while they were staying at
the Westfield assessment centre in Mirfield during 1986. Brook, who
was employed by Kirklees Council, was convicted of seven sex
offences in April last year.
Brooke’s lawyer’s failed to convince appeal court judges that
his conviction was “logically inconsistent”. The lawyers argued it
was based solely on the testimony of the individual teenagers,
while he was acquitted on other charges for which there was
supporting evidence.
