Increase in teenage abortions in Scotland

The number of teenage abortions in Scotland has risen by 10 per
cent between 1999 and 2000. In 1999, 251 women under 16 years of
age had abortions compared with 274 in 2000. Overall the total
number of abortions decreased by 1 per cent to 11,966 with the most
common age range being 20 to 24 years.
