Health minister Jacqui Smith has announced
that the new national service framework for children will include a
section devoted to the needs of disabled children and their
families.
The framework, which will apply to social
services and the National Health Service, will develop new
standards for services to children.
Smith said: We are determined to modernise the
NHS and extend new opportunities to those who have been
traditionally marginalised and excluded, including disabled
children.
“The national service framework for children
is an important element in this modernisation process,” she
said.
