Independent sector can bridge gap

The independent sector can offer a “continuum
of services” for people with specialist conditions when they fall
between health and social care services, conference delegates were
told.

Dr Krystyna Walton, medical director at
Highbank Rehabilitation Centre, said there was “too much
conditioning” of patients and users into either health or social
care when what they need is a combination of rehabilitation,
sub-acute and community services.
