The General Social Care Council has appointed three directors
who will cover registration of social care workers, finance and
communications. All three will take up their new posts in
April.
Mike Wardle is to become director of regulation, and he will
oversee the registration of 1.2 million social care workers in
England. He is currently director of the Lifelong Learning team at
the department of health, and was previously an education adviser
to David Blunkett and Estelle Morris.
Chris Pottinger, the new director of corporate services, will be
in charge of the financial, IT and human resources of the GSCC. He
was previously head of resources for Lewisham council, and
financial adviser to the House of Commons health committee.
Mark Oakes has been appointed director of communications, and
will leave his current job as head of communications with Surrey
council.
