Three out of four blind or partially sighted people out of work

Three quarters of blind and partially sighted people are
unemployed, according to research by the Royal National Institute
of the Blind.

The three-year study was based on interviews with 457 people
aged 16 to 60. A report of the research’s findings, ‘Work
Matters’, says that only 3 per cent of blind and partially
sighted people are not actively seeking work.

The majority – 77 per cent – said they had no
received no support in trying to find a job.
