Adoption and fostering standards published

National standards covering adoption and fostering services have
been published under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act
2001.

The standards were defined by the National Care Standards
Committee (NCSC) set up in September 1999. The NCSC carried out
this work with the help of a number of working groups, consisting
of service providers, experts in particular fields, as well as
people who use services and carers.

Seventeen sets of standards have now been published and will be
monitored by the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care
(Care Commission), which becomes operational on 1 April this
year.
